The Travesia Sagrada Maya seeks to recreate part of Mayan history and culture through a sacred ritual that the Mayans performed year after year to worship the Goddess Ixchel. The consecration began days before in the market “Polé” (Today Xcaret), a place where the different products destined for the "offering" of the goddess were sold.
After dances, ceremonies and purification rituals, the Mayans rowed their canoes towards Cozumel to worship the goddess and thus obtain her blessings for the entire town. Today, you have the opportunity to travel back in time and witness a wonderful ancient tradition.
